Today’s challenging economic climate has affordable housing providers looking for ways to cut costs. One of the most overlooked areas within their control is reducing their building’s energy consumption.

In order to properly manage their energy costs, building owners and property managers need to understand exactly where and how the majority of their energy is being consumed.

That’s where Cam Black comes in. An Energy Solutions Consultant (ESC) with Enbridge Gas, Cam is a natural gas specialist with a wealth of experience. He works exclusively with affordable housing providers, showing them ways to maximize their energy efficiency.

“I help my customers map out their energy consumption profiles and identify ways they can save energy and cut costs while improving the comfort and quality of life for their residents,” explains Cam, adding that improved resident satisfaction helps reduce tenant turnover.

Cam guides his customers through the Enbridge Gas Affordable Housing Multi-Residential Conservation Program which offers a range of enhanced financial incentives to help owners reduce energy consumption and improve their bottom line.

Fixed Incentives of up to $4,000 are available for upgrading to high-efficiency boilers, improving boiler controls, improving ventilation controls, installing demand control ventilation, and installing energy or heat recovery systems.

With Custom Incentives, eligible buildings may qualify for a one-time energy saving retrofit incentive of up to $200,000 for capital improvements. Incentives are based on projected first year natural gas savings and remitted upon project completion.

There are also Free In-suite Incentives including Low-Flow Showerheads and Novitherm Heat Reflector Panels, provided and installed in all apartments free of charge.
